Paraffin Embadded TMAS:

BioRep has also established a “tissue microarrays platform” in order to offer “Custom-made Tissue Microarrays” services:

Paraffin block Selection (by the client):

• the client receives and selects paraffin embedded tumor tissue blocks, which will be identified by a unique code and shipped to Milan using a BioRep collecting box

Blocks incoming inspection, preparation, QC and slide preparation (by BioRep):

• Each block received from the client will be visually checked and coded with a unique BioRep identification number;
• Each block will be sliced in order to prepare one glass slide which will be colored with heamtoxylin and eosin (HSE);
• Each block will be examined to ensure that the quality of the embedded tissue is of the quality and quantity expected for the Tissue Array preparation;
• BioRep will prepare for each paraffin block a glass slide, colored with HSE and ship the slide to the client for evaluation
  Scanning of slides and spots marking (by the client):
• Each slide will be scanned with a high resolution microscope and the image stored into the client database
• The client pathologist will mark each slide in order to select the cores which will be transposed to the Tissue Array. Each spot will be marked and coded by the pathologist

Tissue Array Geometry and Design (by BioRep):

• BioRep, according to the specifications and  information received on tissue by the pathologist, will prepare the TMA geometry which will submit to the client for approval
• After the approval of the Tissue Array Geometry, the pathologist will associate each core paraffin block to the relative TMA core.
  

Tissue Array Realization and Report preparation (by BioRep):

• Virtual alignment of the slide with the corresponding paraffin block
• The Tissue Arrayer is performed using the Galileo TMA CK3500 platform
• Galileo TMA CK3500 Tissue Arrayer will automatically create a Report, containing for each spot, the information (block number, slide image, subset of clinical information…) relative to the block where the core was originated.

Tissue Array Quality Control and slides preparation (by BioRep):

• BioRep technician will prepare HSE stained glass slide for QC and 10 unstained slides which will be shipped to client with the original paraffin block, the TMA block and relative
