Samples Safe Storage
BioRep like Coriell stores and distributes highly qualified biospiecimens. The storage of valuable biological samples, need to be protected at each single level. Each sample is identified and preserved with state of the art technology, ensuring the original specimen characteristics for many years, without degradation. The high quality of the sample’s reliable storage, which on the other hands depends on having well established systems with skilled personnel, state of the art technologies, procedures, and back-up systems are the focal points of BioRep quality policy. The facility includes built-in redundant system for critical procedures and equipment, ultimate generation alarm system and remote storage. In order to guarantee the storing and eventual use of high quality of biosamples, BioRep had to optimize several processes, starting from: collection kits for sample type and acquisition from different collection sites, provided of packaging instructions and delivery documentation. Once in BioRep, each sample is examined to assess conditions and verify that its content matches the manifest: BioRep workflow procedures are carefully designed for consistency and protection of each sample received. Every specimens is individually entered into our data management system, created and maintained by Coriell, thanks to barcode reader accessioning. This highly advanced, and customized database program maintains a complete history of every vial: just with a few keystrokes, we can generate a report that details when a specific vial was received, thawed, aliquoted, tested or manipulated in any way. The database software provides a sophisticated electronic tracking system that allows us to trace each sample and retrieve it immediately, when needed. BioRep is a dedicated facility, able to provide the following types of storage: Liquid Nitrogen Storage - Uniform and stable temperature of -196°C
- Use of properly sealed storage glass containers to avoid the risk of:
- Sample and/or environment contamination - Container explosion during sample retrieval from LN2 to ambient temperature
Vapour Nitrogen Storage - Temperature gradient (from -196° to -130°C) from the liquid surface to the vapor just under the lid
- Absence of contamination
Refrigerator Storage - Uniform and stable temperature of - 80°C
- Badge monitor access to each refrigerator
Remote safe storage (backup) - Liquid Nitrogen Storage
- Vapour Nitrogen Storage
- Refrigerator Storage Platinum/Iridium
