Researchers worldwide rely on biological materials such as cell lines, DNA and RNA to advance biomedical research, accelerate drug development and support precision medicine initiatives. These resources play a fundamental role in enabling scientific breakthroughs, earlier disease detection and the development of innovative therapeutic approaches. [Testi sito Biorep | Word]
Founded in Milan in 2003 and part of the Sapio Group, BioRep is one of Italy’s leading Biological Resource Centers, providing public and private research organizations, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and biotechnology firms with integrated services for the collection, processing, cryopreservation, storage and distribution of biological materials.
Located within the DIBIT2 Biotechnology Department of the IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, one of Europe’s largest life science and biomedical research campuses, BioRep combines state-of-the-art infrastructure, scientific expertise and regulatory excellence to support the complete lifecycle management of biological samples.

Our facilities include highly controlled cryogenic environments and dedicated backup infrastructures designed to ensure operational continuity under all circumstances. BioRep was the first private organization in Italy authorized by the Ministry of Health to provide Disaster Recovery services for biological materials, reinforcing its role as a trusted partner for research institutions and healthcare organizations at both national and international level.

Certified to UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 and authorized by AIFA to provide storage services for medicinal products and finished products, BioRep has been developed using state-of-the-art technologies designed to ensure the highest level of safety for processed and cryopreserved biological material.
These standards are achieved through the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), highly qualified personnel, a 24/7 operational monitoring and control system, and backup systems, including remote backup solutions, for all critical equipment.
BioRep is also equipped with an IT system that, in compliance with applicable privacy and security regulations, ensures the highest level of confidentiality for all data associated with the biological material stored.

BioRep is the ideal partner for the development of fully integrated research networks, providing the scientific community with access to biological material through a dedicated catalogue that ensures data security and the anonymization of clinical information.
The conditions governing the use of biological material, transfer procedures, and confidentiality arrangements are defined in a Quality & Technical Agreement, which regulates the use of the BioRep network by participating centres.
